October Children’s Classes: Saturday’s Art and Lunch-10am-Noon Sunday Afternoon Class, 1-3pm ages 5-12
Afterschool Program 4-5:15 ages 6-11 Children's Green Gifts Workshops with Shawn Dell Joyce Sat., Dec. 6, Tote Bag Gift Set! Children decorate a set of five reusable tote bags as a gift for a parent or grandparent. Children learn how to paint on nontraditional materials using acrylic paints, design motifs and paint them repeatedly. Children also learn the importance of reusing tote bags, and how detrimental plastic bags are to the environment. • Sat. Dec. 13, Reusable Water Bottle Gift Set! Children decorate two reusable water bottles as gifts for family or friends, and make a card about the environmental devastation caused by disposable water bottles. Great way to learn about the importance of reusing, and give the gift of reusing as well! Children use special glass paints and learn techniques for painting on slick surfaces. Sat. Dec. 20, Compact Fluorescent Gift Set! Children make their own gift wrap paper out of recycled paper and simple, natural materials. Children learn to stamp using nontoxic watercolors, and collage using wall paper samples as gift wrap. Children gift wrap five compact fluorescent bulbs, and make a card explaining how much money and energy the recipient will save by using the CFL in place of an incandescent bulb. Cezanne's still life of the fruit bowl, Matisse's flowers in a vase, and make your own self portrait like Paul Klee. Children a bit of art history while looking at master works, and learn how to paint their own masterworks in watercolor. Sundays, 1-3pm,

Cartooning with Gene Bove’
Learn from a professional published illustrator how to turn yourself into a cartoon, and make up a comic strip. Fundamentals of cartooning are taught, with samples from classics like Disney characters, and beloved favorites.

Clay Play with Katie Glembowski
Use real potter’s clay on a real potter’s wheel to make hand-thrown bowls, hand-built figurines, and more. Katie makes getting dirty even more fun while teaching clay basics like throwing, rolling our slabs, air drying clay, and hand building techniques.

Sat., Nov. 29, Ceramic Mug Gift Set! Make teacher or grandparent gifts of two hand-painted ceramic mugs inside gift-wrapped boxes! Make a card to accompany the gift explaining the environmental impact of Styrofoam, paper and ceramic mugs, and why it is important to reuse! Children learn how to paint on ceramics and use special glass paints.

Beginning Painting Class for Children with Debbe Cushman Femiak
Children create realistic artwork using a combination of oil pastels and watercolor paints. Simple enough for small children ages 4 and up.
