Elements of Drawing with William Noonan
Drawing is the foundation of all visual art. Hone your  skills with this five week course which will cover the basics of drawing. Weather you have moved past stick figures or not this course will help you advance your skills. Learn how to see more critically and how to interpret that vision on the page. We will explore the art of drawing and how it relates to painting.

Beginning Oil with William Noonan
This workshop will acquaint students with the medium of oil paint, and the basic principles of the medium. Learn how to mix colors, build layers, and use glazing techniques. Work from interesting still lifes, plein air landscapes, and the human figure. This workshop is appropriate for absolute beginners, artists who want to advance their basic skills, and painters looking to “brush up” rusty painting skills.

Still Life Painting with Mary Mugele Sealfon
Beginning with classic still life, students will learn to handle various painting techniques and materials in either oil or pastel.  An emphasis will be placed on learning to see subtle changes in color and light with personal attention and instruction while you paint.  Individual expression is encouraged. Beginning and advanced teens and adults welcome.

Botanical Drawing with Watercolor Pencils
with Roberta Rosenthal

Botanical Drawing with Watercolor Pencils follows Botanical Drawing Basics, which is a prerequisite. Watercolor pencils are an excellent bridge for those who are comfortable drawing but not yet adept with detail rendering using watercolor paints. Watercolor pencils can be used with watercolor as well. Layering with each gives botanical portraits a special effect mixing softness of pencils with the flowing capacity of watercolors.

Impressionism in Pastel with Dennis Fanton
This class elaborates on the style of Impressionism using pastels. Fanton emphasizes blending and layering, and the planning stages of painting. Students are encouraged to explore and develop a creative approach in looking at your subject as well as painting it.

To the Skies: Poetic Visions of the Heavens through Glazing
and Scumbling Techniques
with Joan Lesikin
After instructor demonstration, students will paint skies in oil or acrylic: from "the skies they were ashen and sober" (E. A. Poe), "a blue sky of spring" (W. Allingham), "behold a rainbow in the sky" (W. Wordsworth, to "promise in the skies neither of sun nor of snow" (Jean Stafford) or your poetic choice. Open to teenagers and adults.  The instructor, Joan Lesikin, will encourage less temperate interpretations than sky blue.  Sundays, 7-9pm Nov. 2, 9, 16, 30 $100 ( or $25 per workshop)

Beginning Oil Painting with Gene Bove’
Have you always wanted to try your hand at oil painting?  This course will get you started with all the basics or refresh you if you're getting back into it.  Getting the "feel" of oil paint, mixing your own colors form a limited pallette of yellow, blue, red and white.  Materials list available.

Designing and Painting Watercolors from Photos

Painting Fall Foliage in Plein Air with Shawn Dell Joyce

A full day of basking in autumn’s glow at the picturesque Benedict Town Park. Learn to see trees as masses, and capture the rich jewel tones of fall in pastel or oil. Demonstration painting and note taking from 10am-noon, break for lunch at Wildfire Grill from noon-1, then work on your own masterpieces from 1-3:30 with a group critique from 3:30-4pm.

Holiday Still Life with William Noonan
It’s time for mistletoe and holly! This still life workshop will celebrate the festivals of December. Maybe you’ll get an image for your holiday greeting card out of this 3 consecutive day workshop. Students will have the opportunity to work from a still life with enough time to complete a large composition and may work in any medium they choose. Friday evening will be spent doing exercises that will ready you to take on a large formal composition. This class is appropriate for beginners through advanced, adults and teens.

Beginning Drawing Part II with Shawn Dell Joyce
Work from exercises Da Vinci and Degas gave to their apprentices to learn how to mix color in pastel, watercolor, and colored pencil. Learn about color theory, and how to achieve color harmony, neutralize complements, and see colors as values. Work from old master’s paintings as well as imaginative drawing, and drawing from memory.
